Surah Al-Fatiha is the first sura in the Koran. Surah Al Fatiha was revealed in Mecca and consists of seven verses. Al-Fatiha is the first surah revealed in full on the sura-sura that exist in the Qur'an.
Surah Al-Fatihah is called (preamble), due to be opened and the beginning of this sura of the Koran.
Named Mother of the Qur'an (Al-Quran parent) or Mother of the Book (Al-parent book) because Al Fatiha is the mother of all the contents of the Koran. As also called Sab'ul matsaany (seven repetitive) because the amount of seven verses and read over and over in prayer.
